"But I say
, walk (ing) by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk (ing) in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called" Gal 5:16; Ehp 4:1
A believers life should consist of a moment by moment trust and dependence on our Risen Lord.
This type of walk assures that we will be protected from life's temptations. The method of walking is an absolute faith process. I believe that the apostle Paul used the term walking to express the kind of faith that is needed to please the Lord.
"Without FAITH it is IMPOSSIBLE to please Him..."
"Walking" is really not an eloquent process. It is actually a series of falls. But with each step we take we tend to trust that our foot will catch us. We do this constantly without ever thinking about it. Biblical faith is much the same!!
It is like sitting in a chair! Each time we take a seat, we do not get stressed over whether or not the chair is going to hold us up or if we will fall to the ground...
Another example is the "trust me" game many of us played as kids. One person stood stiff with arm to their sides and fell straight back while trusting that their friend would catch their fall...
I heard a story along time ago, about a young boy who got trapped inside a burning building. As the fires were rising, the smoke began to thicken and the young boy climbed out on the ledge in an effort to avoid the heat. The smoke poured out of the windows so much that it made seeing impossible.
The frightened boy began to cry and scream help me, help me! Suddenly he heard a voice out of the thick smoke saying, trust me! Jump and I will catch you! But the young boy just screamed I can't, I can't! a second time a voice said, trust me and jump and I will catch you! But the boy just screamed out in horror again saying, I can't, I can't, I'm afraid! A few seconds later another voice called out, Jump son! trust me and I will catch you... And at that moment the young boy jumped to safety.
Why wasn't the young boy not afraid to jump the third time, But was horrified to jump the before that?
Because the voice of the third man was the voice of His father!!! In that voice he found trust and comfort.
God's word is His voice to us and as His children we should never be afraid to trust in what he says! He always knows what is best for us, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to us.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth
so my ways are higher than your way
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."
We need to believe that the Lord is our solid ground. So that each step we take in a moment by moment trust will secure our landing. This kind of moment by moment walk with the Lord is the safest way to walk. This way we are assured not to stumble in the night.
Faith is a moment by moment stepping out and believing that God is able to plant our foot on solid ground.
The walk of faith is seeing God's promises as more real then our circumstances!
"To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust,
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed" Ps 25
The word wait in this verse is that same Hebrew word that is in Isaiah 40:31 - It is the Heb. word Kava- and means "A faith that keeps on trusting, even under stress"
So by trusting the Lord on a moment by moment basis gives us a security that enables us to sleep in the hull of the boat with Jesus and also gives us the peace that passes understanding.
It is this moment by moment trusting with the eyes of faith (and not by what we see with our eyes) that gets us to the next moment of trusting God beyond our circumstance.
May your walk of faith be blessed :) And may the power of the Holy Spirit protect your path!!

Be Blessed In His Love
